What are Magical Journeys?
Magical Journeys are stories where listeners; small and big children alike close their eyes to find themselves in magical realms. They become immersed in panoramic descriptions and rich sounds creating another world using the power of their imagination.
This is a world where the scenery, props and action are provided by the children’s imagination.
These unique Magical Journeys stimulate the imagination but their effect is soothing and calming.
Imagine a whole class of totally calm and relaxed children!

Rebecca is an enchanting orator, combining her performance skills and creative talents, synthesising them with beautiful ethereal music.
Rebecca Elliott is a professional primary school teacher with 17 years experience in inner city London schools as well as a variety of work with children internationally.

Choose from:-
- Magical Journeys with all classes in the school over a day, Foundation, KS1, KS2.
- Magical Journey creative morning / afternoon (2 classes) with The Magical Rainbow Bird. Literacy or Art focus with a finished piece of small group work.
- Magical Journey with The Magical Rainbow Bird for a whole day with 1 class involving an extended session using a combination of; Art, Literacy, Drama, PHSE with a finished piece of Art created by the whole class.
Sessions as outlined above can also be based around other Magical Journeys, but the Magical Rainbow Bird is the only where there is an accompanying painting.

THE MAGICAL RAINBOW BIRD
The Magical Rainbow Bird forms a stunning centre piece to the Magical Journeys repertoire.
The journey begins deep in the forest and takes the listener on journey of transformation, colour and peace.

Suggested outline of a creative day using The Magical Rainbow Bird:
OUTLINE OF VISIT
- Presentation of The Magical Rainbow Bird to whole school
- Go to pre arranged class in, KS1 or KS2.
- A high quality life size reproduction (1m x1.5m) of the painting will be displayed in the class to stimulate discussion and offer real artistic inspiration. (The original is a commission by 2 artists; Basia Wiacek and Daniel Mirante)

Class discussion and exploration of any images/thoughts/feelings stimulated by the Magical Journey.
Whole class project to create a piece of Art using mixed media
Learning Intentions:
For the children to be able to:
- listen to a Magical Journey
- express in words how the story made them feel/think/act
- appreciate an oil painting
- discuss and express through speech, art and/or writing, the concepts of; ‘transformation’, ‘fighting’, ‘peace’.
- discuss how negative states such as; ‘war’ or ‘fighting’ can be transformed in to the positive
- discuss the central theme of ‘One World’
- discuss and learn how, through small personal changes, changes can be made in school, home and globally
Rebecca is, with notice, able to create a specific Magical Journey for a project that a class may be working on; bringing it to life in a memorable way using music and her versatile voice. A half or whole day Literacy and/or Art project can then be created from that Magical Journey.

Each Magical Journey is from 10 to 20 minutes long.
If a class is just having a story session then more than 1 Magical Journey can be enjoyed.

All Magical Journeys can be adapted to suit both Foundation KS1 and KS2.
